Brian W. Fugett, age 53, of Fairborn, OH, passed away Monday, March 10, 2025 at home. He was born on January 9, 1972 in Dayton, OH, the son of Larry and Alice (Bankes) Fugett. He is preceded in death by his father. Brian is survived by his daughter Hannah, age 18, son Dylan, age 16, mother, sister Angie (Randy) Ratliff of Waynesville, OH, and nephew Dustin (Bethany) Ratliff of Lebanon, OH.
Brian attended Fairborn High School and was a graduate of Wright State University where he attended film school and earned a BA in English. In 2003, he founded the underground independent print and online 'zine Zygote in My Coffee that ran for over ten years. Through Zygote, he built a community of like-minded people from around the world. He was a poet, publisher, editor, photographer, creative artist, and cartoonist.
Brian shared his passion for history and adoration of his pets, which his children will carry on. He loved sports - especially boxing, the Bengals, and the Reds. When Brian found the perfect, poetic, deep meaning in the lyrics of a song, he would share it with others for them to reflect on.
Brian had a free spirit, appreciated the absurdities in life, and could find humor in almost anything. In Brian’s eyes, everything was a work of art. From an empty Coke bottle to a dollar bill to a famous painting, he could see the unique genius it took to express one’s creativity, especially on the mundane. He loved to make others laugh, and what a contagious laugh he had! He will be missed by all the lives he touched.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to a Pet Rescue or to the Greene County Library.
