Today our family is grieving the loss of an important part of our family, a man we loved, and Sheryl Crow lost her biggest fan. In fact, hers was the last voice he heard.
Dennis lived life the way he wanted and gathered many lifelong friends along the way, including Kerry Mullins and Tony “Max” Zimmerman. He looked forward to hosting the monthly poker game with his buddies. He gave great advice and was always there to listen. He loved dogs and had several over the course of his life. He was a fan of the Cincinnati Bengals, Ohio State and the Cincinnati Reds.
Dennis was born to William Lisle and Wanita Virginia (Aldridge) Edmiston, who preceded him in death. He will be laid to rest next to them. He graduated from Fairborn High School in 1967 and lived his entire life in this town.
He loved and looked up to his older brother David (Naomi) Edmiston. He was a wonderful uncle to Wendy (Grant) Petersen, Todd Edmiston and Trent (Sabrina) Edmiston. He was especially close to his great-niece Brenna Petersen and great-nephew Cade Edmiston.
He was father to Jamie (Ralph) Rabon and Ashley Whitehead and grandfather to Czariana. He had a very special bond with his grandson Justin Scott Jones.
Many other cousins, extended family members and friends are sharing their favorite memories of Dennis. I am sure his poker buddies Dave Armstrong, Joe Scinto, Perry Bussey, John Richards, Mike Gum, Roger Nestle, Larry Frye and Danny Mayenschien will reminisce at the next game.
Rather than “gawk” at him, Dennis requested the casket remain closed and there be no burial service. Instead, he wanted a simple, informal gathering at Burcham Tobias Funeral Home (119 E. Main St., Fairborn, Ohio) on Friday May 2, 2025 from 10am to 2pm to share memories. He then wanted his family and friends to gather together at Tickets to share a meal and celebrate his life, with him picking up the tab. Let’s all raise a glass to Dennis!
