ERNESTINE H. TONER, age 68 of Fairborn passed away Monday, May 23, 2011 at Kettering Medical Center. She was born June 30, 1942 in South Salem, OH the daughter of Ernest and Grace (Harkins) Cummings. She is preceded in death by her parents, a brother Johnny Cummings all of Hillsboro, OH, her husband Donald E. Toner of Fairborn. She is survived by her 2 daughters and 2 sons, Sherrie & Mark Kepler of Fairborn, Cindy S. Martin-McClellan of Fairborn, Darel & Shannon Martin of New Carlisle, and Daniel Martin of Fairborn, 6 grandchildren Crystal, Michael, Alec, Cole, Katelyn, and Heather, 1 great grandson Malikahi, 3 sisters Mary Sprinkle of Highland, OH, JoAnne & Dave Williams of Groveport, OH, Connie & Jim Davis of Hillsboro, OH-The Marshall Community, 4 nephews and 4 nieces, and a host of friends and neighbors who loved her deeply. Ernestine worked at GM and Sam’s Club Floral Dept. in Beavercreek. She lived for her family and the opportunity of helping them through their difficult problems in life. She is one person you could always expect to be there when you needed her. She always had a friendly smile and words of encouragement to all whom she came in contact with. She went above and beyond giving and doing without so others could have. It’s a fitting scripture for Ernestine, (2 Timothy 4:7) “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” She will be sadly missed in her home by her family, and all who knew her. As we realize many times, our human hands can only reach so far, and then we must yield to a loving and understanding God.
Graveside memorial services will be held on Tuesday, May 31, 2011 at 1PM at Woodland Cemetery, 281 Dayton Ave. Xenia, OH with Pastor John Fitzgerald officiating. A celebration of her life will be held following graveside services at Community Park East Shelter 4 (handicap assessable) 691 E. Dayton-Yellow Springs Rd. Fairborn from 2-6PM. All are invited.
