G. Anthony Holt

Dr. Gilbert Anthony Holt, Jr. age 76 of Fairborn passed away Thursday, December 27, 2018. He was born in Stratford, Connecticut, the son of Catherine (Henry) and Gilbert Anthony Holt, Sr. He graduated from McGill University in 1969, and entered the United States Air Force in 1971 as a physician specializing in Internal Medicine and Allergy & Immunology. He served active duty until 1984 and then entered the USAF Reserves; he was called for a tour of active duty in 1991 for Desert Storm/Shield, serving at Seymour-Johnson AFB in North Carolina for Desert Storm/Shield in 1991. He retired from the Air Force shortly afterward; during his military career, he achieved the rank of Lieutenant Colonel and garnered the AF Commendation Medal, AF Outstanding Unit Award, National Defense Service Medal with 1 Device, AF Longevity Service Award Ribbon with 4 devices, AF training ribbon and a Philippine Presidential Unit Citation. He practiced medicine privately in Springfield from 1984 and Dayton from 1986; he closed the Dayton practice in the late 1990s to focus on the Springfield clinic, where he continued to serve the community and care for his patients up until his retirement in 2015.
He was preceded in death by his wife Aurea L. Holt. He is survived by his two daughters, Catherine M. Holt of Chicago, Illinois; Deborah A. Holt and husband Neil McClumpha of Rye, New York; one son James A. and wife Lisa Holt of Charlotte, North Carolina; and grandchildren, Maxwell Holt, Abigail Holt, Nicholas Holt, Cameron McClumpha, Cara McClumpha.
Family will receive friends Thursday, January 3, 2019 from 4:00 – 6:00 PM at Burcham Tobias Funeral Home, 119 E. Main St. Fairborn, Ohio. Funeral Mass will be held Friday, January 4, 2019 at 10:00 AM in The Prairies of Wright Patterson Field Chapel 3, 6568 Chapel Lane, Dayton with Father Moss officiating.
