

Lawrence (Larry) Raymond Schoppe Sr. of Fairborn Ohio aged 92, passed away on Thursday, June 5, 2025. He was born on August 26, 1932, in Lyons, Texas. He was a graduate of Blinn College located in Brenham, Texas. He enlisted in the United States Airforce in 1951 and retired in 1974 as a Master Sergeant with 23 years Honorable service.
Aircraft maintenance was his military area of expertise. He worked on a variety of aircraft and systems with both the Strategic Air Command (SAC) and The Military Airlift Command (MAC). He supported C-141 cargo aircraft during the Vietnamese war stationed in Ubon, Thailand. His last assignment was with B-52 bomber aircraft at Wright Patterson Airforce Base located near Dayton, Ohio. After the military he finished his working career with the Bodie Finn Company.
If anyone ever asked Mr. Schoppe what he did or was he would answer simply “a mechanic” - it was both his vocation and his hobby. And he was good at it. He had an encyclopedic knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems.
Mr. Schoppe is predeceased by his mother Frances and father Raymond Schoppe, his daughter Teresa and sons Robert and John Schoppe, his sister Mary Helen Schoppe, Nephew Paul Welch, and best friend Frank Maldonado. Mr. Schoppe is survived by his son Lawrence and wife Sharon Schoppe, grandchildren David Schoppe, Josh and wife Katie Schoppe, and Sarah Schoppe, 4 greatgrandchildren as well as his sisters Veronica Fick and Judi Hargrove (Tony).
Services will be held on a date to be determined at Holy Rosary Catholic Church and Cemetery in Frenstat, Texas.
