Aunt Goldie has such a special place in my heart. She called me her “little name sake” and I couldn’t be more proud to be named after her.

Mrs. Mary Barker was the sweetest lady and had the most gentle soul. I remember her working at McCroy's many many years ago. Always had that beautiful smile and friendly approach to everyone. She was my brother's mother-in-law for awhile. Which was cool.
My siblings: Joyce, Patti, Bruce, Dennis and I send our most sincere sympathy and condolences to the entire Barker Family. Prayers for peace and comfort at this difficult time too.

Your mom was one of the sweetest ladies that I have been fortunate to have known. Her kind and gentle manner, welcoming smile and ever joyful nature is what I envision when I think of her.
She was a very special lady.

My mother died when I was very young. I have no memory of her, just a few pictures and the stories that accompany them. Goldie was the closest thing to my mother that I will ever know. She loved me as one of her own and for that I am forever grateful. All of my memories of Goldie are gentle, kind and loving. She didn't have to tell me she loved me, I could see it in her eyes. I believe I'll miss that the most.

So many of my childhood memories are wrapped up in Aunt Goldie's hugs. She was just a phenomenal woman of faith. I am so glad that God designed her to be my aunt. I love you and will miss you so, so much. Hugs and prayers to you, my cousins.
