

DONOVAN, Miriam Louise age 90 formerly of the Dayton area passed away on Friday March 24, 2017 in Cincinnati. She was born on November 29, 1926 in Toledo, Ohio to the late Norman and Lela (Nungester) Sherman. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Eugene Donovan in 2016; son, James Donovan; sister, Jeannette (Sherman) Allison; and brothers, Norman and Roger Sherman. She is survived by her sons, Mark (Joan) Donovan, David (Nadya) Donovan, and Joel (Jennifer) Donovan; grandchildren, Brianna Donovan, Alonna (Ryan) Donovan Makinson, Shauna (John) Evans, and Catriana Donovan; great-granddaughter, Adalynn; sister, Colleen (Sherman) Miller; as well as numerous other family and friends. Miriam and Eugene were married on August 2, 1952. She graduated from Missionary Training Institute in Nyack, NY in 1947 and then went on to earn a Bachelor’s degree in Education. Miriam worked as an elementary school teacher (4th and 5th grade) for 30 years with most of her teaching years spent at Parkwood Elementary School in Beavercreek, Ohio. After retiring at the age of 54, she and Eugene spent their retirement years in Johnson City, TN. She was a member of the Christian Missionary Alliance Church. As a minister’s wife, Miriam taught children’s Sunday school, mentored young women, led women’s Bible studies, and sang in church. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday March 28, 2017 at 12PM at Burcham-Tobias Funeral Home 119 East Main St., Fairborn, Ohio 45324.
