Ofelia S. Lopez

Ofelia Lopez, 91, of Fairborn, Ohio, passed away peacefully on August 17, 2026. A longtime resident of Fairborn for more than 50 years, Ofelia touched the lives of many people through her kindness, warmth, friendship, and genuine love for those around her.

Ofelia spent many years working as a waitress at Walnut Grove Country Club, where she came to know many doctors and lawyers who frequented the club. But for Ofelia, the people who mattered most were the people who worked alongside her. She valued friendships deeply and had a special way of making people feel like family.

She was also employed at Crow Industries as a quality control inspector. It was there that she met two of her dearest friends, Wonda and Donna, friendships that became an important part of her life.

Ofelia grew up in a small town, and she carried with her throughout her life a deep appreciation for neighbors and community. She believed that the people around you could become family, and she lived that belief every day. The Pence family, who lived across the street, were among the many who claimed Ofelia as one of their own. She treasured the long conversations shared together on the porch and the simple comfort of being surrounded by people who cared for her.

When Leo passed away, Ofelia's friends were there to comfort and support her. Dean Karns was always there when she needed a helping hand, whether it was fixing her car or making sure she had a place at the table during holiday gatherings. These acts of kindness meant so much to Ofelia, and they reflected the kind of relationships she cherished throughout her life.

Ofelia's greatest gift was her ability to make connections with people. She remembered the little things, valued a good conversation, and welcomed people into her life with an open heart. To know Ofelia was to know someone who believed that family was not defined only by blood, but also by the people who stood beside you, shared your laughter, helped you through difficult days, and made sure you never felt alone.

Ofelia was preceded in death by Michael and Lori Lopez, her grandson Alexsander, her son-in-law Kevin Prater, and her grandchildren Christopher and Alison.

She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her. Her memory will live on in the family she cherished, the friendships she nurtured, the neighbors who became family, and the countless people whose lives she touched over her 91 years.

Rest peacefully, Ofelia. You were loved, you were remembered, and you will be missed.
