OPAL BLANCHE OWNEY, age 88 of Fairborn passed away peacefully on November 5, 2012 at Hospice of Dayton. She was born the daughter of James A. & Florence (Varney) Howard Sr. on April 3, 1924 in Crum, West Virginia. She is preceded in death by her parents, sisters Ann Hodges, Maxine Browning, and Elsa Daniels, and brothers James Howard Jr. and Glen Howard. She is survived by her loving husband of 62 years Charles Owney, sisters Doris Kline, Geneva Curtis, and Sharon (Tommy) Massengale, and numerous special nieces and nephews. She worked as a supervisor at Ashland Home Telephone Company in Ashland, Kentucky for 17 years. One of her greatest passions was cooking and baking during the holidays. Children growing up in the family will long remember Christmastime at Aunt Blanche’s home as she had a special knack for making it a most beautiful and almost magical time for all in honor of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Friends may call on Friday, November 9, 2012 ¬5PM to ¬7PM at Northridge Free Will Baptist Church, 4800 Payne Avenue, Dayton, Ohio 45414. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 10, 2012 at 11 AM at the church with Pastor Tim Hamilton officiating. Interment will follow at Byron Cemetery.
