Born in Dayton, Ohio on February 5, 1956, he was a graduate of Carroll High School in 1974 and received a degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Dayton.
In his early adulthood he enjoyed traveling across the United States and for a short time resided in California with his wife Kathy (Baker) before returning to live in Dayton.
Upon returning to the area, they started their family. Paul worked for various government agencies and technological companies to develop computer software and solve complex computer problems.
After his divorce, Paul relocated to Australia where he continued his career. He also enjoyed woodworking, motorcycles, and classical cars.
While there, he met his lifelong friend Lara. Together they enjoyed vacationing to other countries and shared many activities with family and friends. After retiring back in Dayton, Paul and Lara continued communications and recently visited Canada.
Paul is survived by his children: Karla (Jason) King, Lynda Wourms, and Michael Wourms, all of Dayton, Ohio. He also leaves behind Jake, Logan, Dylan (Karla) and Drew (Lynda). He is also survived by siblings: Bill (Ana) Wourms of San Ramon, California; Connie (Pete) Buchert of Casstown, Ohio; Margery (Clay) Waggood of Anchorage, Alaska; Kathy Rogers of Centerville, Ohio; Susan (Jim) Harrison of New Lebanon, Ohio; Larry (Tammy) Wourms of Evansville, Wisconsin; Jerry (Debby) Wourms of Williamsburg, Indiana; Jane (Clay) Runck of Dacula, Georgia; Barb (Bob) Kelley of Columbus, Ohio; and Deborah Bischof of Kettering, Ohio, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Fred Wourms; his mother, Helen (Reichert Wourms) Lokai; his stepfather, Martin Lokai; his brother, Robert Wourms; his sister, Diane Wourms; and nephew Dane Wourms.
Visitation will be Monday, August 17, 2026, from 10:00am to 12:00pm at Burcham Tobias Funeral Home followed by a funeral service officiated by Deacon Max Roadruck. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
