

Born on January 30, 1926, Richard lived a life marked by quiet strength, enduring service and deep devotion to his family. He answered the call of duty during World War II, serving his country with honor and courage in the United States Army. His commitment to service and integrity remained a guiding force throughout his life.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Minnie (Blum) Prestel, his cherished wife, Patty Prestel, his son James Prestel, his son-in-law William Morter, his granddaughter Leslie Prestel and his great grandson Cole Saintignon. Though he faced profound loss, Richard met each sorrow with grace, resilience and a steadfast faith in God, that carried him through life's trials.
He is survived by his daughter Ruth Morter, granddaughters Monica Saintignon, Michelle Austin, Amy Butcher (Marshall) and Emily Haney (Bryan); grandsons Douglas Prestel and Andrew Morter; great grandchildren Josiah, Celeste, Lillyan, Sylvia, Kylee, Lorenzo, Gianna, Liam, Knox, Cruze, Isla and Maddox, as well as his long time friend Mary Hill, all of whom will continue to honor his legacy with devotion and cherished memory.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 7, 2025 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Burcham Tobias Funeral Home, 119 E Main Street, Fairborn, Ohio. A Mass of Christian Burial will on Monday, September 8, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church, 954 N. Maple St., Fairborn, Ohio.
Richard will be laid to rest next to his wife Patty in Byron Cemetery, Fairborn, OH.
