August 17, 1939 – October 14, 2026
Alvie Thomas Watson, 87, passed away peacefully on October 14, 2026, surrounded by family.
Born on August 17, 1939, Alvie was preceded in death by his father, Alflonie Watson; his mother, Cova Snellen; his beloved wife, Marilyn Watson; and his son, Duane Watson.
Alvie is survived by his son, Tom Watson (Tina), and his daughter, Juanita Malone (Brad).
He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren, Cameron Watson (Abby), Lauren Brooks (Keaton), Lindsey Watson (Liam Gray), Miranda Board (Jarrett), Molly Disney (Alaina), Madelyn Malone (Jordan Hume), Makenzie Priest (Elijah), and Ashley Watson; along with his great-grandchildren, Beau, Levi, Jett, Jennings, Joe, Junior, Scottie Jean, Sailor, Payton, and Jackson.
Alvie was a hardworking man who spent thirty years at General Electric. After his retirement, he worked part-time as maintenance at McDonald’s. He was a quiet, behind the scenes kind of man who never needed to be the center of attention. He wasn’t one for big displays of affection or a lot of words, but he showed up in his own way. He was proud of the way he kept up his yard until moving to memory care, where he had “the best-decorated” room. He had his own eye for design.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Schoppenhorst Funeral Home Fairdale, 411 Fairdale Rd, Fairdale, Ky 40118. A private graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. at Bethany Memorial Cemetery.
