Beverly graduated from Western Kentucky University in 1966, and then moved to Louisville, where she began a career with the Jefferson County Public Schools that would span 44 years. She taught at Stonestreet Elementary for 8 years before spending the next 36 years at Coral Ridge Elementary, 11 years as the counselor, and 25 years as the principal. There, Beverly lovingly inspired and encouraged students and staff to be their best, which made Coral Ridge “the best kept secret in Jefferson County!” The new media center at Coral Ridge was dedicated and named the Beverly T. Goodwin Media Center. Beverly’s legacy will continue to live on because of the incredible impact she had on countless numbers of students and staff members. The Coral Ridge family will forever hold her in our hearts.
Beverly was a member of Fairdale Christian Church. She was an avid fan of the University of Louisville, and loved to garden and read. She especially enjoyed spending time with her many friends and her family, whom she loved unconditionally.
Beverly was preceded in death by her loving husband of 42 years, Steven Wayne Goodwin, who passed away on February 21, 2018; her mother, Margaret Tolleson; her father, Earl Tolleson; and her grandparents: James and Alta Campion, and Glen and Lillian Tolleson.
Left to cherish her memory are her son, Steven Wayne Goodwin, Jr. (Stephanie); grandchildren: Tyler (Seagram) and Hannah; great-grandchildren: Trace and Sawyer; brothers: Bob Tolleson (Jane), of Bonita Springs, FL; and Tommy Tolleson, of Memphis, TN; and a great number of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who loved her dearly.
