Charles was a member of Masonic Lodge #740, lifetime member of Louisville Street Rods, NRA, FOE (Eagles) Aerie #2173, a KY Colonel, a Ham Operator "call" WD4BNR. He was an avid motorcyclist and street roder. He was a former employee of International Harvester and co-owner of M&C Outboards.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Bedford Harlan Smith and Lovie Lee (Wright) Smith; and brother, James Edmon Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Doris Hartlauf Smith; daughters, Diane Roberts (Earl) and Dawn Wilcher (Mark); two sisters, Margaret Votaw and Sarah "Sue" Bailey; three grandchildren, April Ward, Jessica Oliveira and Wesley Roberts; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at Fairdale - McDaniel Funeral Home, 411 Fairdale Road, with burial to follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. Visitation will be Sunday from noon- 8 p.m.
