Delonia “Donnie” Bloomer, 67, of Fairdale, passed away on Sunday, April 11, 2021. She was born in Louisville on January 3, 1954 to Byron and Norma Dishman. She attended Bellarmine University where she received a degree in Nursing. Over the years she worked at St. Anthony Hospital and the VA Hospital, but spent most of her career working at Norton’s Oncology Unit in Louisville. She was a member at St. Stephen Martyr Catholic Church. She was a loving Mother, Mimi, daughter and friend and she will deeply missed by everyone who knew her.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Arthur R. Bloomer and her father, Byron Dishman.
Left to cherish her memory is her son, Clayton (Amanda) Bloomer; her mother, Norma (Skaggs) Dishman; 2 granddaughters, Olivia and Abby Bloomer; a brother, Byron “Lynn” Dishman; an “adopted son”, Joey Elzy; her beloved dog, Bronx; many extended family members and a host of friends who she all loved dearly.
The family will accept guests for visiting from 2:00-8:00 pm on Friday, April 16, 2021 at Fairdale-McDaniel Funeral Home (411 Fairdale Road). A service to celebrate her life will take place at 10:30 am on Saturday at the funeral home with burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made in Donnie’s honor to Kosair Children’s Hospital.
