Gene Roland

Gene Roland passed from this life peacefully at home, surrounded and cared for by his family on December 3, 2025. He was born in Fairdale, Kentucky in February 1947. After graduating from Georgetown High School (Indiana), Gene answered his country's call and proudly served two tours in Vietnam as a Navy Seabee (NMCB10) then continued to work as a heavy equipment mechanic until his retirement. His hobbies included hunting, coin collecting, and leather crafts, especially holsters and knife sheathes. Gene was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Nancy; his high school sweetheart and wife of 55 years, Pat; his brother in arms, Mick; and son-in-law, Ed. Surviving to cherish his memory are his brother, Bill; daughter, Bessie; son, Michael (Tarah); grandchildren, Anthony and Mandy; as well as nieces, nephews, extended family and friends he lovingly referred to as "inlaws and outlaws" too numerous to name.

Visitation will be held at Fairdale-McDaniel Funeral Home, 411 Fairdale Road on Saturday December 13, 2025, from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. The funeral service will follow at the same venue, starting at 1:00 pm with Burial following in Mt. Holly Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to:
