Ibeita was born on June 14, 1929. She married Richard W. Shacklette on July 3, 1948.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Alda Young, her husband, Richard W. Shacklette, and her grandson, Robert G. Humphrey, Jr.
She is survived by her sister Juanita Myers, daughter Juanita (Bob) Humphrey, son Steve (Sherry) Shacklette, grandchildren Nicholas (Tracy), Aaron (Whitney), Ryan, and Lexie, great-grandchildren, Stevie, Benjamin, Allie, Aspyn and Ella and great great-grandson, Kyptin.
Ibeita loved the Lord, her family and friends deeply. She attended First Baptist Church of Fairdale for many years, where she helped lead her Sunday School class. She was a woman who had a heart for her community of Fairdale, having been raised off Brown Austin Road, and graduating from Fairdale High School in 1947. She served with the Fairdale Area Community Ministries, helping them operate the Food Pantry and Clothes Closet, and being involved in the planning and coordination of the Fairdale Fair for several years. Ibeita was a world traveler, visiting all 50 states as well as many countries. She raised her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren with joy, laughter, and the quickest wit to make anything a joke to brighten your day. Ibeita loved to sing and play the piano, and when she began attending Keys Ferry Baptist Church, she would play the piano alongside her husband, Richard, who would play the harmonica for the service as well.
Several years after the passing of her husband, Ibeita moved to Naples where she enjoyed years of good health in the Florida warmth and sunshine. She returned to Kentucky about five years ago, and was able to be closer to her family and friends during this time.
The family would also like to thank Carolyn McClain and the loving personnel of Sanders Ridge for their tender care, comfort, and support they gave to Ibeita.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 19, 2022 from 4pm-7pm, with service at 7pm, at Fairdale-McDaniel Funeral Home in Fairdale, KY. In lieu of flowers, the family requests you make a donation to the Humane Society in Ibeita’s honor.
