Laura Jean Thompson 38, passed away Wednesday December 16, 2015. Laura proudly served in the U. S. Army and was active in many cancer awareness organizations within her community. She volunteered much of her time for the Lung Cancer Alliance and Shirley’s Way. Laura is preceded in death by her mother Connie Pearson, brother Michael Lucey and nephew Sean Wade Lucey. Laura leaves behind to cherish her memory her husband Mark Thompson, children Jessica Zellmer (Dustin), Mathew Garrett, Lauryn Brooke Barr and Gregory Barr Jr. and grandson Todd Allen Zellmer. She is also survived by her father Jim Pettigrew (Lisa), sister Jodi Morgan (Tim), grandparents Lester and Caroline Gipson and many loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and dear friends. A memorial service to celebrate the life of Laura will be held Thursday at 3pm at Fairdale McDaniel Funeral Home 411 Fairdale Rd.
