Martin Lee Powell

Martin Lee Powell of Fairdale, Kentucky, passed from this life to eternal life on March 4, 2025 after a long struggle with Alzheimers disease. He was born April 29, 1949 to John Henry Powell and Irene Ewing Powell.

He was a veteran of the US Air Force. Mr. Powell was retired from Ford Motor Company after 30 years of service and from JCPS where he found his passion working with special needs students whom he dearly loved. He coached many years for the Fairdale Youth Sports Leagues, both basketball and baseball. Martin was a Christian attending Brooks Baptist Church 35 years, Valley View Church, and Fairdale Christian.

He was pre-deceased by his parents, brother George (Butch) Powell, best friends, Cheryl and David Morris, and other dear family and friends.

Martin is survived by the light of his life, his son, Michael Martin Powell who was his caregiver and best friend. Granddaughter, Alexia Perez, sister, Martha McCandless (Bobby deceased), brother, Joe Powell (Barbara), niece Nora Freeman (Randy) whom he dearly loved, mother of his son, Mary Powell Flander, and a host of other family and friends.

His Memorial Service will be held on Saturday March 22, 2025 at 2:00 pm at the Fairdale – McDaniel Funeral Home, 411 Fairdale Road Fairdale, Ky. Memorial Visitation will be after 10am until time of the service on Saturday March 22, 2025 at the funeral home.
