Michael Wayne Slack (“Chwawa”), age 67, returned to our heavenly Father on October 12, 2023, with his beloved wife, Cathy, by his side. Michael was an extraordinary husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle, and recently was honored with the title of great-grandfather.
Michael was a longtime member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and a previous dedicated treasurer of the Eagle Riders Group, as well as a well-known member of the biker community, very proud of his signature red Street Glide and awesome sound system. He enjoyed an occasional day out to fish, was an avid artist and wood carver back in the day, and lately spent time simply relaxing and enjoying the beauty of his backyard with his treasured family. He will be missed by so many!
Michael was preceded in death by his father, Benjamin Franklin Slack Jr.; his mother, Mary Catherine Gayhart (Caple); his stepfather, Issac Gayhart; and his beloved son, Dewayne Kenneth Slack.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Catherine Rose Slack (Williams); daughters, Angel Dawn Baker (Chris), Catherine Michelle “Mikki” Slack (Travis); son, Tyler Wayne Slack; 14 wonderful grandchildren, 1 great-granddaughter; his only sibling and older brother, who he shared his birthday with, Larry Ray Slack (Eldora); as well as a host of in-laws, nieces and nephews, and many, many friends.
Unbeknownst to the family, Michael was an organ donor, proving once again his generosity and selflessness to others. Memorial donations to honor Michael may be made to the Kentucky Organ Donor Affiliates at donatelifeky.org.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 22, 2023 from 2pm-8pm at Fairdale McDaniel Funeral Home, 411 Fairdale Road, Fairdale, KY. Service will be on Monday, October 23, 2023 at 11am with a burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
We would like to invite any friends in the biker community to ride and help escort “Chwawa” to his final resting place where he will await the arrival of Cathy, the love of his life for almost 40 years.
