Terry Deron Morris

Terry led a life defined by an open, resilient heart, generous spirit and an unwavering love of his family and friends. Born in Morgantown, Kentucky in June of 1952, Terry served honorably in

the 1st Calvery Divison of the the United States Army. Although he was awarded several medals for his service to his country, he and many others of his generation were decades away from

experiencing true recognition for their service.

Before leaving for Vietnam in the fall of 1971, he met and fell in love with Betty Darlene Priddy of Fairdale, Kentucky. When Terry returned, Betty said yes and they wed in the spring of 1972 and

began their life in Fort Hood, Texas. Kentucky was where their hearts and that’s where they wanted to start a family of their own. Over the next several years, they bought a home and became proud parents of two daughters, Jennifer Leigh and Brittany Lynn. This little family he loved so dearly was built on love and laughter.

Terry found joy in the simple pleasure of life and often made the ordinary feel special. Building memories surrounded with family and friends he hosted Christmas parties, BBQ cook-outs, he

loved fishing, long country drives, estate sales and finding “treasures” with his Boo Boo. He loved playing golf and once hit a hole in one with the certificate to prove it! He loved to cook and

try new recipes but desserts were his passion. Not baking them, eating them. Pies and cobblers, waffle cones and strawberry ice cream and we could go on and on. Every Christmas morning he would make initial pancakes for his family and it was a beloved tradition. At 5’7’,Terry was not destined to play basketball, a sport he loved, but he supported the Louisville basketball programs and a huge fan of UofL Atheletics.

Terry will be remembered with love by his wife, Betty, their daughters, Jennifer (Adam), Brittany (Bryant), sisters, Brenda, Rita (Jim), sisters & brothers-in-law, Donna, Shirley, Susie (Warren),

Jimmy (Debbie), Tonya Priddy and many nieces and nephews. Terry was preceded in death by his mother, Opal Hatcher, father, Troy Morris, and brother, Rondal Morris.

Terry was deeply grateful for a life-saving lung transplant in September of 2024. He lived every extra day with immense joy and appreciation for the gift of life he received from the donor’s

family which blessed them almost two more years. Our family would like to thank Dr. Rameriz and Dr.Ng, The Trager Transplant team and Jewish 3 East nurses and staff for care he

received. Our family extends their immense gratitude to the donor family and all of his caregivers.

The family suggests memorial contributions to be made in his honor to the Trager Transplant Center and/or Donate Life Kentucky and suggests to learn more about becoming an organ

Memorial Visitation will be held at Schoppenhorst Funeral & Cremation Services at Fairdale, 411 Fairdale Road on Friday August 21, 2026, from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm, followed by a Celebration of Life Service at the funeral home on Friday August 21, 2026, at 7:00 pm.
