

William L. Blair Jr., lovingly known to his family and friends as “Dickie,” 79, of Fairdale, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on September 12, 2026. Born on February 19, 1947, Dickie was born and raised in Fairdale, where he spent his life building a family, friendships, and memories that will be cherished by all who knew him.
Dickie proudly served his country in the United States Army. After his military service, he dedicated 30 years of his working life to Ford Motor Company, where he built a long and respected career.
Dickie was a member of Saint Teresa of Calcutta Catholic Church, where his faith was an important part of his life.
He was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Mary C. Blair, with whom he shared more than 50 years of marriage. Together, they built a loving family and a lifetime of memories.
Dickie is survived by his wife, Mary C. Blair; his sons, Todd Blair (Christy) and Steven Blair (Susannah); his grandchildren, Brandon, Christopher (Abbie), Katie, and Matthew (Jenna); his great-grandson, Caleb; his sisters, Mary Lou Reece and Georgie Elzy; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, William L. Blair Sr.; his mother, Nannie Rose Mattingly Blair; and his sister, Margaret Johns.
Dickie will be deeply missed by his family and all those who had the privilege of knowing him. His memory will live on through the family he loved, the country he proudly served, his faith, and the many lives he touched throughout his 79 years.
His Funeral Service will be held on Thursday September 17, 2026 at 10:30am at the Schoppenhorst Funeral Home at Fairdale, 411 Fairdale Road with burial to follow in Mt Holly Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday September 16, 2026 from 3-8pm at the funeral home.
