Anna Charmian Caldwell, a native of Springfield, VA, passed away suddenly on Friday, November 14, from heart failure. Anna was a graduate of Robert E. Lee High School in Springfield, VA and was a student of Mary Washington College.
At age two, Anna was diagnosed with leukemia. After successful treatments, including a bone marrow transplant, she was officially cancer free by 1996.
Throughout her young life, Anna exhibited extraordinary creative instincts and talent. Anna could often be found sketching and creating original artwork for her online shop. Early on, Anna developed a passion for travel and seeing new landscapes. She took numerous cross country trips, visiting friends and family along the way. In 2012, she participated in a study abroad program in Australia and recently traveled throughout England, Germany, Switzerland and one very brief visit into France after a wrong turn.
Anna is survived by her two beloved Dachshunds, Ginger and Gretchen; parents William and Marjann Hake Caldwell and siblings William J. Caldwell, Robin Caldwell, and Whitney Brown Caldwell.
Anna Caldwell’s internment will be held at Arlington Cemetery, Arlington, VA on Tuesday, April 28th at 3:00 PM. Family and friends will meet 45 minutes before the service in a room provided at the administrative building inside the cemetery grounds. At that time an Arlington representative will go over the location of the graveside. The graveside service will be followed by a reception at Fort Meyer’s Officer’s Club, Patton Hall at 4:00 PM. Details to follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Anna’s honor to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, http://donate.lls.org/lls/donate.
