Obituary of Beverley Christian Van Houten
Beverley Christian Van Houten, age 93, of Fairfax, VA, died of natural causes on the evening of 11 June 2019. She is survived by her four children: Sherry Green, Judy (Joseph) Bolognese, Amy (Grimaldo) Aybar, and David Van Houten. She is also survived by her seven grandchildren: Christina Bolognese, Joseph Bolognese, Carlos Aybar, Alexandra Aybar, Rachel Aybar, Nikolas Van Houten, and Kaitlyn Van Houten. She had one great-grandson, Anthony Bolognese. Beverley was born in Cleveland, Ohio on 24 August 1925. Her parents were Theodore Ecker Christian and Edria Myrtle Easty. She was married to Robert James Van Houten from 17 February 1946 until his death on 15 September 2009. Beverley worked during World War II on the electrical systems of B-24 bombers in San Diego, CA. When she returned home to Ohio, she worked for her father at a military tank plant. During her marriage to Robert, Beverly settled into the role of wife and full-time mother, all the while keeping up with her many varied interests, including arts and crafts, gardening, and reading. In her later years, Beverly worked with the various military organizations of which Robert was a member. She was the editor for the Veterans of the Battle of the Bulge newsletter. Beverley is remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and welcoming hostess who was always willing to take time to talk to the many friends and family who would stop by to visit. A Celebration Of Life will be held at Truro Anglican Church, 10520 Main St, Fairfax, VA 22030, on July 13, 2019 at 11:30am. The family asks that you bring stories to share about Beverley.
