Carolyn Bibb Powers, 68, departed this life November 26, 2014. Per her request, there will not be a formal memorial service. A grave side burial and ceremony for both Edward and Carolyn Powers will be held at National Memorial Park in the spring. Daughter of the late Theodore and Marguerite (West) Saunders, she was a lifelong resident of Fairfax City in Virginia. She was a devoted wife and mother. Preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Carolyn is survived by her daughters Jennifer and Karen, and grandson Teddy. Carolyn spent her career as a nurse and her free time sewing, crocheting, or painting gifts for others. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Hospital in her name. An online guestbook has been set up by Demaine Funeral Home Fairfax so that the family may enjoy stories and sentiments expressed by those she touched.
