

He graduated from Somerset Elementary, Leland Junior High and Bethesda Chevy Chase High School (class of 1940) in Maryland and a 1941 graduate of Devitt Preparatory School in Washington, D.C. He graduated in 1947 from Duke University, Durham, North Carolina in 1947 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree and Commission of Ensign, U.S. Navy.
He and four brothers served their country during World War II in the U.S. Navy or U.S. Merchant Marines
Claude served in the U.S. Navy from Feb. 1942 to June 1947 at several Naval Stations and aboard the aircraft carrier, USS Tulagi (CVE-72), in the Pacific and Atlantic theaters.
Claude delivered magazines and newspapers in his home neighborhood of Friendship Heights, Maryland and often delivered and sold hot, homemade dinner rolls to neighbors. He was a clerk at Whelan’s Drug Store, 14th & Pennsylvania Ave, N.W. Wash., D.C., a clerk and runner of money and deposits to department stores for the National Bank of Washington, Wash., D.C. He served in the Federal Bureau of Investigation in Wash., D.C. as a Fingerprint Classifier and later as a Special Agent assigned to Little Rock, Arkansas, Chicago, Illinois, Joliet, Illinois Resident Agency, and the Washington Field office in Washington, D.C. He received eight letters of commendation from the Director of the FBI for work Performance.
He retired from the FBI after thirty years of service. His last assignment was the FBI liaison representative to the U.S. Department Of State in Washington,
He is a member of the Wash., D.C. Chapter of the Society of Former Special Agents of the FBI and served as a member of the Executive Committee.
He worked for several private security firms. One firm, hired by the late King Hussein of Jordan, entailed guarding the King’s four children by Princess Muna, in the Wash., D.C. area. The oldest of these children was Prince Abdullah, now King of Jordan.
He served as Director of Security at the Sheraton Carlton Hotel in Wash., D.C. for 8 ½ years and met a number of U.S. Presidents, Vice Presidents, foreign dignitaries and movie stars, who were guests or visitors at the hotel.
He was an active member of the Episcopal Church and served on the Vestry in Joliet, Illinois and Silver Spring, MD. He served as Chairman of Ushers at Christ Church Parish, Kensington, Maryland
He was a founding member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity.
Claude resided in Silver Spring, Maryland with his wife, fay Elaine Bogley (nee Raddatz) and family for 45 years. They have two married children, Ken William Bogley of Lake Anna, Virginia and Claudia Fay Fink of West Laurel, Maryland. Son in law Gerald B. Fink and Daughter in law Alicia Posey Bogley. They have four grandchildren, Christie Fink Puckett, husband Daniel Puckett, and Bryan Fink, Rhiannon Gammill and the late William Gammill. Great Granddaughter Abigail Grace Puckett
Claude and Fay moved to Gainesville , Virginia in 2001 where he enjoyed his family, church activities, genealogy, gardening and travel. His love for his family and devotion to his friends was boundless. His life's journey was a testimony to his faith, and daily walk reflected his belief. His 67 year marriage was the gold standard of a loving relationship .
Claude is the fifth of seven children that include the late Capt. John Albert Bogley, USN, the late Samuel Walter Bogley, Jr., the late Emily G. Brooks, the late Richard T. Bogley, William T. Bogley and James E. Bogley
The funeral will be at Fort Lincoln cemetery on Jan 12th in Brentwood, MD. At the Mausoleum the viewing will be held between 12pm and 1pm, followed by the service between 1pm and 2pm. Interment will at 2:30.
