

Edmund Leo Geary, 95 of Chantilly, VA: Greatest husband, father, grandfather, ever. On February 17, 2018 died peacefully at home and with happiness to finally join his beloved wife Rosella with our Lord in heaven.
He is survived by his loving children: daughter Leona with husband Thomas Henderson and grandson’s Mark and Eric; son David with wife Kathleen and granddaughters Jacqueline and Emily, grandson Patrick; and daughter Vickie with granddaughter Kelly with husband Mark Mitchell, grandsons Christopher and Philip; brother Charles and sister May Ellen; preceded in death by brothers John, Henry and Robert; and sisters Leona and Agnes.
Edmund was a devout Catholic and spent much of his life in charitable activities centered on family and community. Born and raised in Hazleton, Pa - Edmund joined the Navy in 1943 during World War II where he served until war’s end. He served in the U.S. Navy as a member of The SEABEES (33 and 109 CB Battalions) where he was deployed and served in the South Pacific on Mbanika Island, Nissan Island, Peleliu Island and Guam.
Edmund was cited for his dedicated service during a career that spanned over 30 years of Federal Service tenured with the Naval Oceanographic Office and later the Defense Mapping Agency where he distinguished himself through the merger of his expertise in Photogrammetry with his exceptional planning, organizing and leadership abilities as applied to hydrographic charting.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, February 25 from 2 to 4 PM at Demaine Funeral Home, 10565 Main St., Fairfax, VA 22030. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 8213 Linton Hall Road, Gainesville, VA 20155 on Monday, February 26 at 10:30 AM with burial to follow at 1 PM at Quantico National Cemetery.
