Gary Carl Mullen

Gary Carl Mullen, 78 years old of Fairfax City Virginia, recently diagnosed with ALS in August passed away on December 7th, 2020 surrounded by the love of his family. Preceded in death by his parents Hartley and Dorothy Mullen. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years Phyllis N. Mullen, his children, Gary C. (Kathy) Mullen and Robin L. (Jeff) Taylor. Five cherished grandchildren Joshua, Melissa, Brittany, Brian, and Susan, eight great-grandchildren, Joseph, Daniel, John, Elizabeth, Brooklyn, Rory, Lunah and Bryce and brothers Robert and Jerry. He was born in Waverly, NY on January 26, 1942, but lived in the D.C area for 58 years. Gary Mullen was a veteran of United States Coast Guard serving from 1960 to 1966, and was awarded the Coast Guard Good Conduct Medal in 1963. He was a dedicated Fairfax County Police Officer for 20 years, following that he worked as a Fairfax City Transportation Supervisor for another 20 years. Gary enjoyed spending time at the beach with his family and woodworking. Service will be held at the Demaine Funeral Home, 10656 Main Street, Fairfax, VA 22030 on Sunday, December 13, 2020 at 11am.
