Obituary of Harold Dailey
Harold "Rabbit" Dailey, 90, of McLean, Virginia, passed away peacefully, November 15, 2019. He was born April 21, 1929. He was the son of Jesse & Ethel Dailey. Rabbit was a graduate of McLean High School. Rabbit was a 28 year veteran of the Fairfax County Police Department, and retired as a lieutenant. After retiring from the police department, he worked for many years at Aamco Transmission as a special investigator, traveling all over North America investigating fraud. Rabbit also worked at Annandale High School for many years as a School Safety & Security Specialist. When he lived in Myrtle Beach, SC, he worked as a starter at his local golf course. Rabbit loved the Washington Redskins, no matter if they won or lost. He was also a fan of the Washington Nationals. He was so happy when they won the World Series. He is survived by his wife, Hollis Ruth Dailey, whom he married in 1972. He is also survived by his sons, Daniel Lee Dailey (Kim), and David Harold Dailey (Bibi). He was predeceased by his daughter, Rebecca Virginia Yerkey in 2010, his brother Pete, and his sister Hilda. He is also survived by his three step-children, Larry Wilson, Scott Wilson, and Donna Fleming, whom he loved as his own. He has one surviving sister, Pauline Merchant, and a multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins, grandchildren and great grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 20th from 6-9 p.m. at Demaine Funeral Home located at 10565 Main Street, Fairfax, Virginia. The funeral services will be celebrated on Thursday, November 21st, at 10:30 a.m. at Demaine Funeral Home, Fairfax. Burial to follow at National Memorial Park Cemetery, 7482 Lee Highway, Falls Church, Virginia. A celebration of life will follow the burial at the Fairfax County Police Association, 6525 Revercomb Court, Fairfax, Virginia, 703-278-8626. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the Fairfax County Police Association.
