Janet Thornton Daly

Janet was born in Washington, D.C. to Arthur Lloyd Thornton, Jr. and Paula Mueller Thornton on August 28, 1951. She went to school in McLean, Virginia. She married William Eugene Daly on June 26, 1970. She worked as a Administrative Assistant / Confidential Secretary for the Department of Defense and in the Private Sector for 42 years. She was awarded the DoD Meritorious Civilian Service Award in 1997.

Janet is preceded in death by her husband, William Eugene Daly, and her son, William Steven Daly.

Janet is survived by her son, Patrick Lloyd Daly and his wife Karen Renee Daly of Centreville, Virginia, her daughter-in-law Shannon Moreau of Winchester, Virginia; brothers James Arthur Thornton of Ann Arbor, Michigan, Charles Lloyd Thornton of Radiant, Virginia, and Paul Louis Thornton of Gainesville, Virginia; sister-in-law Honora King Daly of Stone Ridge, Virginia; granddaughters Samantha Jordan Daly of Morgantown, West Virginia and Kelly Erin Daly of Centreville, Virginia, grandson William Andre Daly of Winchester, Virginia; and Dixie Michelle Marie Manuel of Winchester, Virginia.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, on Friday, March 24th, 2023, at Demaine Funeral Home with Reverend Stephen Shepard of St. Dunstan’s Episcopal Church officiating. Interment of ashes will take place at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
