She also leaves behind her loving mother Shirley Kraak in Florida, her brother Gregory Kraak and his wife Robin in Arizona, her niece Michele in Kansas, nephew Daniel in Minnesota, and daughter-in-law Cindy, wife of Carter, in South Carolina.
Karol was born on January 27, 1958 in the US Army military hospital in Frankfurt, Germany. She grew up in an Army family and moved often, graduating from Auburn University with honors as a member of the Delta Zeta sorority, and earned a Master’s degree from the University of Virginia. She was a devoted and faithful member of the Fairfax Baptist Temple.
Karol was the epitome of a gifted educator: She respected children and delighted in opening up doors to the world for them, especially those with special needs. A former supervisor called her "the best teacher I have ever seen. She could reach the most difficult child."
Karol was a loving, positive and supportive friend who always put others before herself. She faced many uncertainties and difficult times in her life with grace and love. She had a wonderful guffaw of a laugh and was the first to offer help. She also made amazing Christmas cookies.
Karol was predeceased by her husband, Curtis L. Williams, and father Charles Kraak.
In lieu of flowers, gift cards for the family would be most appreciated.
