

Kenneth A. Long, Sr., 89, of Haymarket passed away Saturday, October 24. Mr. Long was born in Fairfax County 1926; was a graduate of Fairfax High School Class of 1944 and alumni of George Washington University. He worked for the Office of Scientific Research and Development during WWII. He married his wife Margaret in 1947 and then went to work with his father, E.W. Long at Long’s Corporation where he became President and CEO. He held Master Plumber, Master Mechanical, and Master Gasfitter licenses in Virginia. He was a Past President of Northern Virginia PHCC and a Past President of Virginia PHCC. He was a fifty year member of the Henry Masonic Lodge. He is survived by his daughters, Cheryl Douglas Wates and husband Byron and Theresa Long Dagenhart and husband Michael; daughter in law, Pamela Long; 7 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Margaret A. Long; his son Kenneth A. Long, Jr.; his father Everett W. Long; his mother Helen T. Long; and his brothers, Everett N. Long and Calvin R. Long. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm on Monday, November 2 at Demaine Fairfax Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, November 3 in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow in Fairfax City Cemetery.
