Marilyn Austin, age 95, of Charlottesville, Virginia passed away on Tuesday, August 16, 2022. Marilyn was born December 15, 1926, on a farm near Indianola, Nebraska. Marilyn was the daughter of B. Adrian and Fern Duckworth Quigley. She was preceded in death by William C. Austin, her husband of 43 years; a son, Robert Alan Austin; a daughter-in-law, Shirley Ann Austin; brothers (sisters-in-law) Kendall Quigley (Gladys), Dean Quigley (Donna), and Que Quigley (Clarice). Survivors include a son, Rev. Steven Lee Austin; a daughter-in-law, Sue Austin; a brother, Hale Quigley (Dolores); four grandchildren: John Austin (Erin), Jason Austin, Maili Austin Ramirez (Mauricio), Kristi Austin Brockett (Trenton); eight great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
For most of her life Marilyn resided in Fairfax, where she raised her two sons, served as their Cub Scout den mother, and was later a Worthy Matron of the Fairfax City Eastern Star. She loved music and was dedicated to serving the churches she attended, including Chantilly Bible Church in Virginia. In addition to playing the piano, bowling, and card-making, she was skillful with needle and thread and created practical gifts for the people in her life. In her later years she lived in Pensacola, Florida, before moving to Charlottesville. She was a loving and generous mother and grandmother devoted to her family and friends. Marilyn will be dearly missed by many.
A visitation for Marilyn will be held Wednesday, August 24, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Demaine Fairfax Funeral Home, 10565 Main St, Fairfax, Virginia 22030, followed by a funeral service at 12:00 PM. The service will be live-streamed.
Marilyn will be laid to rest in Fairfax City Cemetery, Fairfax, Virginia.
