

Dr. Mario Alfonso Palma-Ibarra passed away at home on November, 23, 2014. He was born in Leon, Nicaragua May 16, 1935 to Dr. Ildefonso Palma-Martinez and Ines Ibarra de Palma. He was educated at the Colegio Pedagogico, La Salle in Managua, Nicaragua. He then attended St.Louis University, in Saint Louis, Missouri, where he met his wife of 55 years, Patricia Ellen O'Hara. He earned his Juris Doctor degree from the UNAN, Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Nicaragua. He then went on to earn his Master's Degree in Comparative Law/American Practice from The George Washington University Law School in Washington, D.C., and was admitted to the District of Columbia Bar.
His major accomplishments as a writer/editor included books, regular articles and editorials for Diario La Prensa, Editor of La Noticia, Dean of Humanities at UNAN and Senior Legal Editor at the O.A.S. Organization of American States.
He is survived by his wife Patricia E. O'Hara de Palma, his five children, Patricia Maria (her husband, Robert Wells), Mario Michael Palma (his wife Amanda Mokuahi), Ana Carla (her husband, Joseph Tufano), Felipe Santiago Palma and Claudia Helena Morgan, and eight grandchildren.
