Maureen Larkin passed away on September 15, 2025, at Inova Hospital in Fairfax. The daughter of Richard and Donna Larkin, Maureen was born on July 29, 1956 at Fort Carson, Colorado. She grew up in a military family, living in Germany, California, Kansas, Nebraska, Georgia, New York, Virginia, Pennsylvania, Colorado, Florida and Moscow, USSR.
Maureen attended numerous grade schools and three high schools during her travels, later spending a year at Mount Vernon College in Washington, D.C. Her analytical mind led her to a career in the nascent computer programming industry. Despite facing persistent health and other challenges that included a fire while in Moscow and a fire in Centreville that consumed her possessions, Maureen’s cheerfulness endeared her to lifelong friends in Northern Virginia.
Raised in the Catholic faith, Maureen found strength in her religion, family, friends and a panoply of pets, which included a horse, ferret, bunny, dogs and several cats. She was a brave, funny woman with an uncanny ability to remember names, places, and timelines, which always proved helpful in remembering family history.
She is survived by her siblings, Colleen Tuddenham, Richard (Donna O’Bryan), Michael, and Mark; her nieces and nephews, Michael (Stacey), Jennifer (Greg), Scott (Gosia), Kelly, Laura, and Patrick; and her great-nieces and nephews, Aidan, Blake, Cora, Lena, and Heidi. Maureen had a remarkable friend, Ella Tawiah (Edna), who provided her much comfort and care in the last year.
