Obituary of Michael Sidney Voutour
In Memory of Michael Sidney Voutour CHANTILLY, VA – Michael Sidney Voutour, 67, of Chantilly, passed from this life Wednesday, February 6, 2019 in the Virginia Hospital Center, Arlington. Born in Jacksonville Beach, FL on October 31, 1951 and raised in Ponte Vedra Beach, FL, he was one of nine siblings. Mike graduated from Duncan U. Fletcher High School, Neptune Beach, FL in 1970 and served on the St. Johns County police force before moving to Chevy Chase, MD, and later to Northern Virginia where he remained until his death. Starting out as an automotive mechanic, Mike first became a service adviser with Goodyear in Springfield (later in Manassas) and subsequently with a number of leading Washington area automobile dealerships that included the Rosenthal, Browns, and Ourisman organizations. With the Pohanka automotive group, Mike was a service manager at their Acura and Chevrolet dealerships in Chantilly. He also worked with Hertz Car Rental’s service department, and was a regional fleet manager for Budget car rentals. For a time Mike was President and co-owner of “Tool Guys,” a retail sales tool company, before returning to the automotive service industry. Mike enjoyed hunting and fishing, bowling and golf. He loved collecting baseball caps and unique T-shirts, as well as working with his hands. He loved NASCAR, all things Earnhardt and more recently Martin Truex, and watching Live PD, Cops and survival reality TV. Mike liked C&W music, George Thorogood and Santana. But his enduring love was of all things automotive and motorcycles. Mike rode regularly every Memorial Day with a veterans group in Rolling Thunder. But mostly, Mike really liked people and was universally well liked in return. He had an outgoing personality and a great sense of humor. He was always ready to step up and help someone in need, even perfect strangers — many of whom became lifelong friends. Mike will be greatly missed and his legacy will be the many people whose lives he touched. Sadly, while his spirit prevailed until the very end, his body did not, and after a brief stay at Virginia Hospital Center, Mike passed peacefully on the night of February 6, 2019. Mike was preceded by his mother Mary and father Frank. In addition to his wife Mary of 39 years, he is survived by his siblings Frank (Carol) and Tom (Dina) of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL, Mary (Harold) Donaghee of Live Oak, FL, Ann (Paul) Scroggins and Raymond (Cindy) of Jacksonville, FL, David of Madison, FL, Edward (Cindy) of St. Augustine, FL, and Paul (Cindy) of Jacksonville, FL, and numerous nieces and nephews. On Friday, March 8, 2019, a Memorial Service will be held at Demaine Funeral Home – Fairfax, 10565 Main Street, Fairfax, VA 22030, commencing at 5:30 p.m. In celebration of his life, visitors will be invited to share their experiences and memories of Mike. Family will begin to receive guests at 4:30 p.m. His cremains will be interred in the family plot in Sampson Cemetery, St. Augustine, FL at a date to be determined.
