Millie was born in Abbotts, North Carolina to John and Nurnie Atkinson on 6/8/1924. She moved to the Washington, DC area during WWII to help the war effort as a secretary. There she met her husband Herman Chester who was serving in the Coast Guard. After the war they settled in Fairfax, Virginia where she spent the majority of her life. The greatest joy in her life was spending time with family and friends.
Millie is preceded in death by her husband Herman Chichester.
Millie is survived by her daughter Mary Feurtado and her son-in-law Walter Feurtado, her remaining sister Alice Litchfield, grandchildren Patricia Cantieri and Wesley Feurtado, and great-grandchildren Natalie Cantieri, David Cantieri, and Corinne Feurtado.
Interment will be at 1:00 pm on Saturday, September 30. We are meeting at the Demaine Funeral home and walking up the hill to the gravesite in Fairfax Cemetery. Arrangements are by Demaine Funeral Home.
