

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Norma Sue Veltri on July 26, 2026. Born in 1939, in Tazewell, VA, Norma was the first child of Vernie & Frances Davis. She graduated from Tazewell High School, where she was majorette for the marching band. Norma leaves a void that can never be filled. With Norma’s departure, we remember a life lived with immense love and a constant sense of caring. Her selflessness, warmth, and generous spirit will be remembered forever. She leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and compassion that lives on in all of us.
Norma was predeceased by her husband, Ray Veltri, whom she was married to for 43 years, her parents, Vernie and Frances Davis, her sister, Faye Davis, and her sister-in-law, Vickie Davis.
She is survived by her son, Raymond Veltri, Jr., her brothers, Gene Davis, Larry Davis, his wife Lisa, Greg Davis, and nephews and nieces. She also leaves to mourn her dear friend, Becky Breedlove.
Norma received her Associate’s Degree from John Tyler Community College, Richmond, VA, her BA Degree in Nursing from Trinity University, and her Master’s Degree from George Mason University, Fairfax, VA. Norma excelled in her nursing career and was Director of Nursing for several Assisted Living Facilities. She was most proud of her career at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, Washington, DC., where she was Head Nurse of both the HIV and Allery Clinics. It was at the Allergy Clinic where she oversaw the administration of shots given to all U.S. Army members being deployed overseas. In addition, her Clinic also gave Skin Testing & Annual Flu shots to all Military Personnel & their families.
Norma was an avid reader & also loved to travel. Her love for cats was evidenced by a life filled with adopted furry friends.
Norma will be buried at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date following a service at Old Post Chapel.
