Richard Paul Dwyer

Richard Dwyer aged 85 passed away on January 1, 2024. Richard was born in Woburn, Massachusetts January 1938. He graduated from Northeastern University in Boston in 1960 where he majored in Business Administration. After graduating from college, he was commissioned in the Army as Second Lieutenant. He served as Radio Platoon leader in the US and Europe from 1961 through 1963. After an honorable discharge as First Lieutenant, Richard worked in the private sector for four years. He then moved to Washington DC to work for the US Government as a Management Analyst for HQ Naval Supply Chain Command for eight year. For last 20 years of his career, Richard worked for the US Air Force in a variety of Management Analyst roles. He retired in June 1995. After retiring, Richard was proud to be accepted in to the Fairfax County Auxiliary Police force. As an Auxiliary Police office, his duties included traffic enforcement, new Police Officer training and administrative tasks. He served in this role for 15 years. Richard met his beloved wife Mary Lou in October 1969 at a Catholic College Alumni Club event. They married in May 1970 and enjoyed a happy life together until his passing. He is survived by his wife Mary Lou. He had nine nieces and nephews and numerous great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother John J. Dwyer Jr. A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday January 23, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Timothy's Catholic Church, Chantilly, VA. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Timothy's Catholic Church, Chantilly, VA.
