Ruth Jines Kent (age 98) passed away on June 29, 2016 in Fairfax, VA. Ruth was born in Dahlgren, IL on November 17, 1917, the second of four children to Maude and William Jines. She received a degree in nursing from the Missouri Baptist Hospital and then joined the Army in May 1941. She was discharged from the Army January 1946 after serving as a chief surgical nurse for the 110th Evac Hospital in WW II. As a part of that division she followed General Patton’s army through the Battle of the Bulge. A longtime resident of Fairfax, Ruth is survived by her daughter Barbara Kent Suidikas, son-in-law Gene and grandchildren Erin and John. A memorial service will be held at Fairfax United Methodist Church on July 22nd at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in Ruth’s name to the Fairfax United Methodist Church or to INOVA Fairoaks Hospital where she volunteered for over 30 years.
