Scott, or Scottie as he was called by all of his friends, was born in Baltimore, Maryland to his father Paul Eugene Gibson and his mother Mary Anne Eskridge Gibson on August 15, 1951. His family moved to Virginia when he was a child and he graduated from WT Woodson High School in Fairfax. He never married but was blessed with an enormous number of friends whom he considered his chosen family. He worked as a route salesman for various beer and snack distributors for many years. He was also the owner of a local restaurant and bar named Sam’s Place. He was a member of several fraternal organizations including the American Legion and the Moose Lodge. In retirement, he loved watching and betting on sports and was the manager of multiple fantasy sports leagues. He also loved joining his friends for an afternoon drink at the Blue Iguana across the street from his home. For those that knew him, he was obstinate, hardheaded and very set in his ways, but if he loved you he loved you unconditionally and forever.
Scott is preceded in death by his parents and sister Paula Lee Gibson.
Scott is survived by his sister Jill Gibson Price and her husband Jim, his niece Kelsey Price Barker and her husband William Barker, and their children Gresham and Charlotte, his nephew Kyle Christopher Price and his wife Elizabeth Price and their son Henry.
A Celebration of Life will be held after the holidays on January 4, 2025 from 3:00 – 6:00 pm at the American Legion Post 177, 3939 Oak St, in Fairfax.
Scott’s family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to all of his friends who were so gracious and giving of their time and assistance in his final days.
