

Stanley was born on December 2, 1928 in New York city. A son of the late Michael and Anna Sciora. He graduated from Cardinal Hayes High School in 1946 and later from Mississippi State University in 1970 and obtained a Masters degree in 1972. Soon afterwards, he started a pursuit of a PhD in 1976 from the University of Kansas. After high school graduation, Stanley enlisted in the US Army; his military career spanned over 22 years and retired with honor rising to the rank of Major in 1976. Stanley proudly served his country having been trained as a paratrooper after world war II, an artillery officer in the Korean conflict, and serving as a special forces intelligence officer in Vietnam. After a distinguished military career, Stanley worked for the Library of Congress for 15 years until his civilian retirement in 1992.
Stanley was a man of great faith and a long time member of St. Leo’s Catholic Church in Fairfax, Va.
He is survived by his sister Helen, Romualda, his wife of 63 years, daughters Elizabeth, Barbara, Stephanie, son Andrew, grandchildren Jakub, Izabella, David, Jennifer, Rachel, Michael, Amanda and great grandchildren.
Stanley was loved by all of his family and he will be greatly missed by his loved ones.
