

He leaves his daughter, Amanda Schlener of Fairfax, VA, his niece, Victoria F. Rawlinson of Franklin , MA, his nephew, William L. Rawlinson and his wife, Michelle, a great-niece, Mary Rawlinson and great- nephew, Christopher Rawlinson all from Ayer, MA. He leaves a friend, Patricia Schlener of Fairfax, VA to whom he was married from 1982 to 2004. He also leaves many friends from high school, college and business.
Bill was predeceased by his mother Elva Rae Fairchild Schlener, his father Frank John Schlener and his sister Sheila Margaret Rawlinson.
Bill was born and raised in Wellesley, MA. He graduated from Texas A&M University and obtained an MBA from East Tennessee State University. After college he served in the US Army in Korea , a First Lieutenant in charge of Mechanical Maintenance. He worked as a government contractor for several Washington DC firms including Computer Sciences Corporation, TRW and BAE. His field of expertise was aviation and naval sea surveillance.
Bill was happiest when traveling and sailing. His goal to explore all 50 states was realized. He especially loved our country’s National Parks. Sailing was a passion and he navigated the Potomac River and the Chesapeake Bay with only a few coast guard rescues!
Interment and a memorial will be held in Wellesley MA during better days ahead.
