Kailan continuously tried to find peace in the storm of addiction, but was always lead back to the never-ending battle of the disease. Kailan was a warrior, and anyone that knew her can firmly attest to that fact. But her addiction stalked her and stole her from us one final time.
Kailan was a graduate of Fairhaven High School and attended BCC where she was enrolled in Criminal Justice and Paralegal studies. Kailan had the most beautiful smile and sky blue eyes that could light up your soul. And if you were lucky enough to be in her presence, as she gazed into her daughters face the pure joy radiating from her would blind you. Kailan was fiercely loyal to her friends and family, her uncanny ability to insert her humor and wit into any situation will be forever seared into our hearts and memory. Therefore, leaving a broken hearted family and a world that will never shine as bright.
She was the beloved daughter of Kim and Thomas Skammels, the mother of Kiara (Phoebe) Colon, sister to Seth Skammels and his companion Carly Jean, aunt to Addison Anna Skammels, granddaughter to Myron and Sandra Pacheco and (predeceased) Francis and Anna Skammels, and her uncle Jack Skammels. She also leaves behind two loving, grieving aunt’s Robin Aiello and Jodi Gonzaga and husband Doug. Also leaving a special friend Matthew Burnham, who loved and guided her unconditionally.
Kailan left this earth in her ascent to be reunited with her brother Justin Remy and cousin Timothy Gene Aiello, while surrounded by her loving family.
Arrangements are in the care of WARING-SULLIVAN HOME at FAIRLAWN, 180 Washington Street, Fairhaven, MA 02719. In lieu of flowers, please pray for the healing of Kailan’s family to move forward from this tragedy. To leave a note or tribute: www.waring-sullivan.com
