Alan loved an early day of fishing, swimming off his boat at East Cove, and past days at the family cottage. Alan loved fishing the inlet in Stuart, Florida and enjoying life from his condo on the St. Lucie River. He loved being on the water surrounded by his family. He had a strong passion for talking about the universe and stars to anyone who would lend an ear. He was a General class HAM radio operator who prided himself on connecting with others from all over the globe. He was known to all as Father Christmas, carrying the family legacy and traditions and dressing as Santa for his grandchildren. Alan kept his home stocked with local seafood and beaming with music as a constant open door for friends and family. A spirited musician and accordionist, he was the central focus of many a loud, festive family gathering.
He was the husband of Loretta M. (Manchester) LaCroix with whom he shared 63 years of loving marriage.
Born in New Bedford, son of the late J. Edward and Katherine (Sieczkowska) LaCroix. Alan went on to earn his degree in Electrical Engineering at Southeastern Massachusetts University. He worked as an electrical engineer for more than 30 years and was the founder and CEO of Data Brain, INC.
Alan loved his family dearly. In addition to his loving wife Loretta, he is survived by his children, Michael A. LaCroix and his wife Laurie of Fairhaven, Cynthia A. LaCroix of Acushnet, and Sharon L. LaCroix-Andersen and her husband Christopher of Fairhaven; eleven grandchildren, Bradford, Cory, Cameron, Jordan, Tyler, Sydney, Danica, Josh, Kyle, Calyn, George; and eight great-greatgrandchildren and four nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the Community Nurses of Fairhaven and all the CNAs who all helped care for him in his final days.
