Brenda J. Mitchell

Brenda J. (Gagner) Mitchell, 53, of Fairhaven, MA, passed away on Saturday, March 9, 2013 at St. Luke’s Hospital following a courageous battle with cancer. She was the loving wife of Robert E. Mitchell with whom she shared 16 years of marriage.

Born in Bristol, CT, a daughter of the late Donald and Norma (Scott) Gagner, she attended Bristol schools and lived in Bristol until moving 18 years ago. She had resided in Fairhaven for the past 12 years.

Brenda was employed at Ocean State Job Lot in Bristol, CT and later in Fairhaven until her retirement several years ago.

She was a gentle, generous and loving person who always found time to listen patiently and offer advice. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and had a love for all animals, especially her beloved dog, Bailey.

Surviving in addition to her husband Robert are her siblings, Rachel D’Andrea and her husband Vincent of Morris, CT, Jane Gagliardi and her husband Frank of Bristol, CT, Terry Gagner of Bristol, CT and Brian Gagner of Ladson, SC; her step-sons, Christopher Mitchell and Peter Mitchell and his wife Laura all of Acushnet, MA and her step-daughter, Amy DeSantos and her husband Ted of Manchester, CT; four step-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Scott Gagner and Noreen Norkus.

Private funeral services were in the care of the Waring-Sullivan Home of Memorial Tribute at Fairlawn, 180 Washington St., Fairhaven.
