Carlton A. Thatcher

He was the husband of Doreen (Girouard) Thatcher with whom he shared 22 years of marriage.

Born in New Bedford, a son of the late Robert and Edith (Smith) Thatcher, he had resided in New Bedford for many years before moving to Fairhaven 5 years ago. He was a graduate of Holy Family Holy Name High School and attended Graham Junior College in Boston.

Carl was the co-owner with his wife, Doreen, of Acushnet River Antiques Company. He was most happy spending time with his wife and family having a good old fashioned cook out and vacationing in Sarasota and Disney World.

Surviving in addition to his loving wife are his sons, Owen Thatcher and his wife Julie and their daughter, Galaxy of New Bedford and Daniel Thatcher of Onset; his brother, Robert Thatcher of New Bedford; and his step-son, Stephen Szymanski and his wife Maria of New Bedford.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday, July 13, 2012 from 9-11am in the Waring-Sullivan Home of Memorial Tribute at Fairlawn, 180 Washington St., Fairhaven followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:30am in St. Mary’s Church, 440 Main St., Fairhaven.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
