

Dr. Chester T. Baron, age 100, passed away Monday, October 5, 2026 surrounded by family. He is survived by his wife Diane (Dexter) Baron, and his two sons, Jonathan Baron, and his wife Katy, and Peter Baron, and his wife Kristen, and their son Liam, to which he was the proud grandfather. He is also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews.
Born on April 12, 1926, in Acushnet, Chet was the son of the late Czeslaw and Anna (Kosciellniack) Baron. He was predeceased by his nine siblings: Mary Dziura and her husband, Stanley; Joseph Baron and his wife, Statia; Amelia Benoit and her husband, Ulric; Stanley Baron and his wife, Florence; Walter Baron; Michael Baron and his wife Irene; John Baron and his wife, Florence; Anna Baron; and Louis Baron and his wife, Irene.
A longtime resident of Fairhaven, Chester was a graduate of New Bedford Vocational High School. He enlisted in the United States Navy during World War II, serving as a combat aircrewman on a TBF/TBM Torpedo Bomber. Following his military service, he utilized the G.I. Bill to attend the Texas Chiropractic College, and interned at Spears Chiropractic Hospital in Denver, Colorado. Upon his return to Fairhaven, he became Massachusetts’s 31st licensed Chiropractor, and remained in practice for nearly 70 years, dedicated to his patients and community until his retirement in March 2020.
A devout Catholic, whose strong faith guided his daily life, Chester ushered at St. Joseph’s in Fairhaven, St. John Neumann in E. Freetown, and St. Mary’s in New Bedford. He found deep contentment in the outdoors, especially working his yard. He enjoyed traveling and spending time with family. He was a longtime member of the Fairhaven Rotary Club. A devoted fan of the Boston Bruins, Red Sox, and New England Patriots, he followed the teams with lasting enthusiasm.
Visiting hours will be held on Monday, October 12, 2026 from 4-7 pm in the Waring-Sullivan Home at Fairlawn, 180 Washington St., Fairhaven. His Funeral will be held on Tuesday, October 13, 2026 at 9:00 am from the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in St. Gabriel the Archangel Parish, 343 Tarkiln Hill Rd., New Bedford.
