I knew Dot Gammans when she worked for the School Dept. and as a member of the First Methodist Church. She was always pleasant and had a kind word to say. It was my honor to have known her. My deepest sympathy to her family on their loss.

Dot Gammans was one of the nicest people i ever met through Elizabeth Monk, Jim's mother. She always had a positive outlook no matter what happened and a deep faith in her church and God. I'm sure everyone who knew her would agree with this. What most people do not realize is that she was a pioneer in women's rights and opportunities. One of the other ladies working in the churches Thrift Shop told me she used to do research like me.
When I asked her about it over lunch, she recounted her work in the field of drug and bio-medical research after college. She acted like it was no big deal but it triggered memories from college classes and when i later checked she and her friends were part of the first group of women to ever be "allowed" to work as researches instead of lab assistants or secretaries because their science scores were so high!
Jim and I will both miss her.
