Born in New Bedford, a daughter of the late Francisco and Maria Amalia (Madeira) Moniz she grew up in Dartmouth before settling in Fairhaven.
Eileen attended Cushman School in Dartmouth. She was a cafeteria worker for the Fairhaven School Department and prior to that she worked as a stitcher for Eastern Sportswear. In her spare time, she enjoyed being with family, friends, and trips to Foxwoods to play slots and BINGO. She was a member of the Stetson Club and bowled for several years with her husband Eddie in the Club’s league. Eileen and Eddie also enjoyed the many friendships they made over the years and always looked forward to dining out, dancing, and card nights.
She is survived by three children, James Couto and his wife Sheri of Tuscon, AZ, David M. Couto and his wife Roberta of Fairhaven, and Diane Davignon and her husband Robert of Dartmouth; a sister Marilyn Ventura of Peachtree City, GA; grandchildren, Ryan Couto and his wife Bethany, Jesse Couto, Matthew Couto, and his wife Natalia, Evan Couto, and his wife Regan, Joshua Davignon, and Nicole Davignon; four great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late John Moniz, Frank Moniz, and Arthur Moniz.
Her services are private and under the direction of Waring-Sullivan Home at Fairlawn, 180 Washington St., Fairhaven, MA 02719.
